After a lifetime of devotion to his Christian faith, David Bazan turned away from the church and disbanded his successful group Pedro the Lion. This film closely follows Bazan as he spends considerable time alone on the road, away from his family, contemplating the world around him (especially around the 2016 election) and playing intimate house shows to audiences of recovering evangelicals. In a year of strong music documentaries, this one moved me to my core. — Kyle McKinnon
