Scottish teenager Gemma lives in the projects of crumbling former industrial town Motherwell,.Though surrounded by aimlessness and casual violence, Gemma still aspires to make something of her life — but when she gets pregnant by her delinquent boyfriend and disowned by her grandfather, she is abruptly introduced to the harsh realities of adulthood in this difficult town.
